The Purchasing Agent is responsible for achieving optimal arrangements related to purchasing assigned products. This position executes the selection, evaluation, and negotiation for assigned PRG items, ensuring that the suppliers selected fit Panda’s culture and philosophy, have the necessary capacity, provide the items at the best price and highest quality. This position assists the Purchasing Manager in day-to-day coordination of inventory, production, and product transition and assists with sourcing new product suppliers.

You’ll get a chance to:
  • Identify suppliers for assigned items and arranges optimal contracts in terms of pricing, quality, timing, and supply availability over the term of the contract.
  • Ensure costs are within budget.
  • Assist our Purchasing Manager in identifying new suppliers to support future growth.
  • Attend supplier and industry shows to identify potential suppliers.
  • Evaluate potential suppliers in coordination with FSQA concerning the viability of their product and acceptability of their manufacturing facility.
  • Assist with negotiating with new suppliers over cost and collaborates with logistics to bring product(s) into distribution.
  • Maintain a strong professional relationship between suppliers and the company.
  • Communicate with suppliers concerning all aspects of the partnership including PRG philosophy and growth plans and aligns suppliers with Panda to support company growth.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and fitness of suppliers to determine the company’s procurement strategy.
  • Lead or support cross-functional projects with departments such as FSQA, Product Development, Marketing, and Operations related to product specifications, quality inquiries, product recall, sourcing new ingredients, testing new products, and phasing in products within distribution.
  • Assist Purchasing Manager with global sourcing for international expansion.
  • Set up inventory management for international operations.

Your background & experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum three years of experience in Supply Chain Management, preferably in a multi-unit food service and/or manufacturing organization
  • If hired, successful completion of annual store training.
  • If hired, must provide proof of full vaccination on start date, unless prohibited by federal, state, or local law. Full vaccination means two weeks or more have passed after receiving the second dose in a two-dose series, or more than two weeks after receiving a single-dose vaccine. Examples of proof of full vaccination include an original, photocopied, or digital completed vaccination card that includes name, type of vaccine provided, and date of last dose administered.

Pay Range P2h: $80,500 - $113,000 / Annual

  • Within the range, individual pay is determined using various factors, including work location and experience.
