Purpose

Management of efficient Engineering Operations within the production area to ensure production goals are met. Direct management and support to the production areas within the Manufacturing Engineering Function.

Supervises, leads, and provides technical direction to a group of technicians and engineers.

Directs project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans.

Manages and delivers key strategic technology projects.

Devotes a portion of time contributing to managerial, leadership, technical coaching, and staff development responsibilities.


Responsibilities

  • Mentors Manufacturing Engineers in Engineering activities/methodologies with an emphasis on Equipment/Systems validation lifecycle
  • Sets clear development goals for reports, and monitors progress ensuring regular feedback in given through performance reviews
  • Provides guidance and training to staff, motivates individuals to achieve results, and assists staff in attaining performance/training objectives and career goals
  • Provides input on Equipment/Systems problems by analysing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions
  • Evaluates and leads the implementation of new Equipment/processes through research, analysis, evaluation, selection of software designs, operating systems with identification/verification of requirements using engineering best practices
  • Ensure best design practices/tools are employed by the group to maximize tooling/equipment effectiveness
  • Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products or process, for current programs, next generation programs and to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company
  • Understands engineering analytical, problem solving and project management techniques
  • Ensure Tooling/Equipment complies with EH&S requirements
  • Drives ownership of Engineering activities/methodologies with an emphasis on cost improvement
  • Monitors spending to ensure department budgets are achieved
  • Develops and enhances cross-functional team relationships and works cross-functionally to identify and resolve technical and organizational issues
  • Drives excellence in New Product Introductions
  • Communicates the company, site, and department vision(s) to assure that staff objectives are aligned with the vision(s)
  • Leads training and development of others; cross-functionally

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Experienced professional with a complete understanding and wide application of principle, theories, and concepts in the field
  • Degree in an Engineering/Science Discipline Required.
  • 5-year experience in related field, minimum 2 years of experience within FDA environment
  • Previous People Supervision is an advantage.
  • Excellent problem solving, and project management skills required
  • Working knowledge in:

Lasers, robotics, automation systems & dispense systems, SMT, sterilisation, Moulding

  • Validation lifecycle,
  • Six Sigma problem solving
