Specific Purpose
Purpose
The post holder will have responsibility for the overall management and performance of the social work department and team in Marymount University Hospital & Hospice. This will include the development and implementation of effective strategy to support the operational management and delivery of services. The post holder will provide high level clinical knowledge and skills and contribute to service planning and development to meet the needs of the service user and the objectives of the organisation. The job will also include a developmental and educational role within the organisation for relevant service areas, patients, residents and carers. The successful candidate will deliver care within a multidisciplinary approach.
Eligibility Criteria Qualifications & Experience
Candidates for appointment must on the last day of applications:
- Have a National Qualification in Social Work (NQSW or equivalent;
- Be registered with CORU;
- Have a minimum of five years post qualification clinical experience;
- The requisite clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to fulfil the function of the role; and
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
Post Desirable Requirements
- Relevant post graduate qualification in related areas
- Experience working in a palliative care service and/or relevant healthcare setting
- Experience in development of policy and procedures
- Experience of working on regional or national initiatives
