Friends of Nevada Wilderness AmeriCorps Springs Monitoring Technicians will support spring monitoring efforts throughout Southern Nevada. The members will sample spring water quality, assist in spring restoration, support outreach communication, and activities, and conduct data entry. The Technician may have the opportunity to conduct more intensive surveying of riparian vegetation or engage in invertebrate/vertebrate identification, soil/rock type classification, in-depth water chemistry analysis, or other sampling tasks depending on skills and interests. This position will involve a combination of field and office work. Members will serve a 1700 hours term, 40 hours a week. Will receive a total stipend of $2,066.66 a month. After successfully completing their term members will receive an education award of $6,895.

Member Duties : Conduct basic springs monitoring (flow conditions, water quality, location) throughout Southern Nevada independently or with volunteers; Lead volunteers in basic spring monitoring, effectively communicate with volunteers, and promote and maintain an exceptionally safe environment for volunteers; Carefully and accurately collect large quantities of field data, Conduct data entry of field data in an accurate and timely fashion; Assist in outreach activities and media production to recruit volunteers and spread information, in person and via social media. Distribute and maintain posters and fliers about FNW stewardship projects throughout the community, update volunteer and media contacts in database, name, edit and store photos of springs monitoring and volunteers in action and events, provide photos and written content for FNW email and newsletters, maintain accurate and timely preparation of project files; keep equipment clean and in working order at all times.
