The Opportunity

Perform intermediate accounting work for the purpose of administering customer accounts related to registration and facility bookings and to co-ordinate timekeeping for the Division of Recreation for the period of September 5 to April 30, 2024.

Accountabilities

  • Co-ordinate the facility schedules within approved policies and procedures of City recreational facilities using computerized software. Facilities include, but are not limited to, gymnasium, program rooms, pool rentals, and ball field rentals. Process the rental requests, payments, refunds and customer account adjustments utilizing computerized software.
  • Prepare, enter and balance timekeeping reports, edit timekeeping summaries, and respond to routine requests for information from employees on timekeeping matters.
  • Generate reports and statistical data related to program registration and facility. Prepare other correspondence as required. Maintain filing systems.
  • Monitor and maintain spreadsheets of work authorization accounts for the department.
  • Follow-up on outstanding accounts, including follow up on NSF accounts to ensure payment.
  • Record issuance of requisitions and purchase orders. Prepare and balance summaries of daily cash reports submitted by Desk - Facility Service Workers.
  • Respond to customer inquiries in relation to accounts, registration and rentals with the Department of Recreation.

Qualifications

Qualifications – : High School Diploma supplemented by the completion of all prep courses required to be eligible for the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) program.

Specific Skills /Certifications –
  • Computer Terminal operation skills, to prepare and process timekeeping and monitor work authorization accounts.
  • Strong technical skills to computerize facility booking, program registration and accounting software to process and monitor facility rental accounts.
  • Works independently and carries out verbal and written instructions accurately and quickly, to maintain good communications with City Departments and to address people in a tactful, diplomatic, helpful and enthusiastic manner.
  • Working knowledge in word processing, spreadsheet software, typing and filing.

Relevant Experience –
  • One (1) year experience in an accounting position or in a position of similar responsibility and complexity.

A combination of education and experience acceptable to the City may be considered for this position.

  • Certificate of Conduct

Physical Requirements

  • Read and sit for an extended period.
  • Must have finger dexterity/grasping ability to operate issued equipment/devices, or a computer.

Hours of Work

Monday - Friday
9:00 - 4:30 (33.75 hours per week)
